If you were to design an interview of yourself to showcase all your cherished thoughts and beliefs for future generations, what would it look like? Think of the words and stories you would want to tell and the people you would want to share it with. To make oneself immortal with digital storytelling is one way to pass on your sacred wisdom to others or have your story remembered.
If you can, and are willing to make the time, brainstorm a series of life-defining questions, think thoughtfully about the responses and compose a personal interview record for safekeeping. Share your intimate thoughts and memories and capture them down on film. To give the interview some style you might flash some questions as text and follow them up with your eloquent responses. For later reflection and digital longevity, make your interview an anniversary event and ask yourself the same questions on camera once a year, every year, for as long as you can take it. Observe the way you change and mature over time. If you like splice the old interviews with the new. Split screen the footage or edit the film to where the “young you” interviews the “old you.” Once you have done this personal time capsule series, you can also add a wacky series just for fun. Try the interview again each year after a few outtakes over shots of tequila or a good bottle of wine. Lots of wonderful options.
